Dear Pets Haven Friends,
We have taken note of recent reporting in the media, depicting sick animals in temporary housing, within our Bayswater veterinary clinic and we would like to provide some perspective to this.
The Pets Haven team is passionate about rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming neglected and often abused animals. True to this mission, we don’t only rescue the easy or for the most part, healthy cases but we make it our mission to also provide some hope for the badly neglected and ill ones also. Some examples of these were depicted in the reporting by the media.
These animals are transported from remote rural areas in temporary housing and on arrival, they are being processed and allocated to suitable, veterinary clinic enclosures. During this process, our capable and dedicated team, takes great care in minimising the discomfort of the animals and promptly commence the rehabilitation process. The evidence of their great work is depicted in the thousands of success stories of happy home tails that follow completion of this
The Maroondah Council, along with the RSPCA, conducted multiple inspections and issued notices to comply, predominantly relating to the suitability of the facilities for long-term housing. As a result of this, some process improvement opportunities were identified, and immediate corrective action was taken. The Pets Haven team has worked closely with council, as well as with the RSPCA and all notices were fully complied with and concluded.
The Pets Haven team is committed to operating in full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and for that reason, a comprehensive improvement plan has been formulated. This plan addresses facility upgrades as well as training and process improvements. These improvements are being implemented as part of the new Domestic Animal Business application process and in close cooperation with Council.
